The Commissioning Process
My aim is to design and build for you a unique and individually designed piece of furniture that will not only be beautiful to look at but also functional and become an heirloom that can be handed down for years to come. A piece of quality furniture is, by its very nature, going to be more expensive than something purchased off the shelf, but isn't that exactly the point? Owning a piece of furniture that was designed specifically for you, offers a satisfaction that money can't buy.
Once initial contact has been made, we briefly discuss the commission and arrange a meeting to discuss the project in more depth. I like to visit the client in their own home to enable me to see where the piece is to go and to get a visual feel for the project. At this initial meeting we will also discuss a budget to which they would like me to work within or I can produce a design and cost it accordingly. I will bring with me a selection of woods so the client can see the variety that is available to them.
The design process then begins in earnest and I will produce some sketch designs for you to consider. There is something special about being involved in the design of a piece of furniture for your home. It is my aim to make the commissioning process an extremely stimulating and satisfying experience. Once you agree on a design that is sufficiently evolved, I will produce scaled drawings and send them to you for approval. Up to this point there is no obligation to proceed, however, once approved a deposit is payable and a timescale for delivery is agreed.
If you wish to discuss a potential commission, then please feel free to contact me.
